Sweet Creek Trail 4-18-16

Hello again everyone:

It's been a very long time since I have posted a travelogue.  This one is of a recent hike that was one of the best ever for me, and I hope you enjoy it, and give me some feedback.

On April 18, 2016, after having driven up to Reedsport, Oregon the previous day, my hiking buddy Jeff, who recently moved up there, and I took off for a great day of hiking. After driving north on Hwy 101, we headed east on Hwy 126 inland of the Oregon Coast to the trailhead.

Sweet Creek Falls comprises four distinct waterfall tiers cascading a total of 70 ft, with the plunges ranging from 10 to 30 ft

This lush trail complex features eleven small waterfalls in all. Sweet Creek Trail has four segments totaling 2.9 miles with four separate trailheads and parking lots. For the first part of the hike, we went to the main trailhead.

Homestead Trailhead, the one we did at the end of our day of hiking, goes down the other side of the canyon and ends directly across from Sweet Creek Falls, and with a nicer view of the main fall. It turned out to be the most direct route, but the other side was the most scenic trail by far. This hike is easy, family friendly and open year round.

I suggest fullscreen mode to really capture what I am trying to show.  Then
you can click HERE to see this brief slideshow of our beautiful hike, or click on the following link (or copy and paste it into your browser):

I hope you will take the time to watch the slideshow and let me know what you think.
It's been a long time since I've gotten back into editing and sharing my photos and I hope you will let me know it's worth my time to you.

Sincerely,
Carl

Myth: we have to save the earth. Frankly, the earth doesn't need to be saved. Nature doesn't give a hoot if human beings are here or not. The planet has survived cataclysmic and catastrophic changes for millions upon millions of years. Over that time, it is widely believed, 99 percent of all species have come and gone while the planet has remained. Saving the environment is really about saving our environment -- making it safe for ourselves, our children, and the world as we know it.  If more people saw the issue as one of saving themselves, we would probably see increased motivation and commitment to actually do so. -Robert M. Lilienfeld, management consultant and author (b. 1953) and William L. Rathje, archaeologist and author (b. 1945)

“Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime.”
